In AutoCAD you can draw by entering the coordinates of the next point as measured from the last drawing point. When you are measuring the distance from the last point, this is considered a relative distance and you enter the at symbol, @, before the coordinate value. For example, @3,4 would mean, from the last point move 3 units on the X and 4 units on the Y.
