Yeliz Tokgoz, Qualcomm principal engineer and manager, looks at how the ongoing evolution of 5G with regard to supporting increasingly varied Internet of Things use cases. For instance, the 5G NR Light (RedCap) makes simplifications and optimizations for certain classes of IoT use cases, including security cameras, sensors and other devices that don't require the data throughput needs of eMBB-optimized devices.
