A key principle in many of our YOGABODY programs is “breathe to relax.” Why? To activate your parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest), override your myotatic reflex to lengthen muscles for flexibility, and even prepare your body for sleep.
To Practice:
▪️Use ocean breath by closing off your glottis at the back of your throat and breathing through your nose. There should be an audible whisper both on the inhale and the exhale
▪️Close your eyes and inhale through both nostrils for a count of four (1-2-3-4)
▪️Exhale through your nose slowly for a count of eight (8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1)
▪️Repeat this eight more times
