The filter is supposed to capture circulating tumor cells out of the blood stream. Antibody covered surfaces attract the tumor cells. In combination with mechanical properties the so called CTCs get caught. Due to a magnetically active polymer the chip can be tuned in geometry. The created turbulences in the blood stream causes the cells to touch the surfaces more often, and therefore catches more tumor cells.
