Some routers provide two different Wi-Fi networks.
2.4 GHz represents one frequency
5 GHz represents a separate frequency
A single router can provide one Wi-Fi network on each frequency.
2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks tend to go through walls better and travel greater distances.
5 GHz Wi-Fi networks tend to be faster.
Routers that allow you to switch between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies are called dual band routers.
Routers that provide two networks at once are called simultaneous dual band routers.
Not all wireless devices support both bands.
It's possible for the 5 GHz band to be disabled on either your smartphone or on the router. if you cannot see this network this is one possibility that can explain why.
Your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network will have its own Wi-Fi name and password that is separate from the 5 GHz Wi-Fi name and password.
Each band has its pros and cons. They will suit everybody's needs differently.
