This is a question that keeps coming, coming and coming... I've been asked what is the best way of recording the Boss Katana Amps?

I will let you judge what you prefer in this short video. I have recorded the same simple riff, with the same amp preset and using the following methods:

1) Mini Rectifier cab 1x12" using a Shure SM57 mic 0:33
2) Boss Katana 5" internal speaker using a Shure SM57 mic 0:56
3) USB output direct into Reaper 1:20
4) Phones/rec out to audio interface 1:44
5) Line out to audio interface 2:08
6) Send to audio interface 2:31
7) Send to audio interface + impulse response (Catharsis Fredman 2off-pres5) 2:55

Here are some infos about the recording:
Amp: Boss Katana Head, 0.5 watt mode
Cab used was: Mesa Boogie Mini Rectifier 1x12 loaded with Celestion V30 made in the UK
Recording interface: Line6 UX2
Mic: Shure SM57
Audio software: Reaper http://reaper.fm/
Guitar: Sterling by Music Man Cutlass (stock bridge pickup)
