Should you only use ethernet connections to connect to the internet?
It’s been widely publicized that ethernet connections to the internet provide far superior performance when compared to WiFi connections.
With that said, you might be surprised to hear that you shouldn’t be using ethernet cables for ALL of your internet connections.
In many cases, WiFi connections to the internet provide more than enough bandwidth for the internet action you’re performing. In addition, WiFi connections provide some benefits when compared to ethernet connections.
WiFi benefits include:
-Much less restriction when talking about where you’re able to connect to the internet
-Being able to move around with a device and maintain a connection to the internet
-There are some mobile devices that don’t even have ethernet ports
-It’s cheaper (you don’t have to buy any ethernet cables)
The best solution for your home network most likely involves ethernet and WiFi connections to the internet. I recommend using ethernet cables for devices that perform bandwidth-intensive actions, and using WiFi for devices that you either move around with or don’t perform bandwidth-intensive internet activities.
