Have you ever wanted to quickly convert a music or video file - say, from .wav to .mp3, .mov to .mp4, or .mp4 to .mp3 - but didn't want to use a bloated third-party media converter?
In this video, I'll show you how to add options to your Windows Explorer right click / context menu. These call a batch script which converts between formats using FFmpeg - a free, open source and very popular library.
CAUTION:
This tutorial involves a few minor edits to the registry, and therefore assumes a certain level of technical skill. If you follow my instructions, nothing should go wrong, but take care.

STEP 1 (0:33)
Shows how to download, install and use FFmpeg on Windows 10. First, visit http://ffmpeg.org. Make sure to get the Windows 64-bit release build. Extract the downloaded ZIP to the root directory of your hard drive (eg. C:)
STEP 2 (1:32)
Illustrates how to write a registry entry to add a new item to your context menu (eg. "Convert To MP3"). When this item is used, it will call a batch script which converts your media using FFmpeg.
STEP 3 (5:15)
Tells you how to write the batch script mentioned above. It is relatively simple if you're doing a straightforward conversion - in this case, from *.wav to *.mp3.
