Susie found out she was pregnant while in the army. Though she tried to hide it to avoid being discharged, the commander soon figured her secret out: “You’re not a soldier now. You’re a woman. And you don’t belong here”. When Susie returned home, another surprise awaited her. A woman was living with Susie’s husband. Lloyd didn’t even try to hide the fact that he wasn’t interested in Susie anymore: “You’re not even a proper woman. You’re too masculine!”.
