It's been over three months since I last posted a video! It's not for a lack of motivation. I've just been busy with so many things that I haven't had time to make a tech video. I've been to four conventions and released a cosplay music video for each one (right over here: https://ninja.click/fnyt).
I recently updated my home studio setup and thought it would be nice to share the changes with you. You've never seen my studio space, so here it is. It's just a basement with all of the challenges that come with it - short ceilings and colors that aren't flattering for video work - but it's all I have. I've never been completely satisfied with my lighting setup. This large bounce with the white cloth is the best setup I've found, so I'm sticking with it.
I shot this with my Canon R5 and I'm quite impressed by the autofocus and auto exposure. I don't remember which autofocus setting I had it on (probably center focus point), but it seemed to focus on the things I wanted it to. The internal sensor stabilization also really helped to smooth out my shaky movements. The R5 is often given a hard time because of it's overheating and 30 minute record limit, but I've never had a problem with either. Just like any camera, you have to know its limitations. The R5C was recently released, but it's just not for me. I want the IBIS.
As promised at the end of this video, I will be introducing some new-to-me equipment including some of the now famous and rather expensive Canon FD lenses. Those things have taken off in price and I was drawn into them like a sucker 😆. Stay tuned!
