The burning of The Bulls is part of the Fiestas De San Juan De Dios. The annual pyrotechnic celebration is held in Tultepec, Mexico’s fireworks capital, and has been celebrated in the region for around 150 years. The festival honors the patron saint of firework makers. Pyrotechnics is Tultepec's biggest industry. 2017's celebrations held special significance for locals after a tragic accident at the town's firework market in December 2016, in which there were 35 fatalities. It was decided that the festival would continue as a celebration of their lives. Starting on March 8th and carrying on for a week - as the sun sets, the mayhem unfolds. Papier-mache bulls laden with exploding fireworks roam the streets. The latest festivities included 300 of these bulls. Locals dance amongst the sparks - it's one of the most chaotic celebrations in the world, but also one of the most important to this town.
