Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is the next game from Owlcat Games, following Pathfinder: Kingmaker. And it’s not a simple sequel, giving you an army to manage, mythic paths to shape your hero (including a necromancy-loving Lich) and an epic crusade against a demonic force. We talk through the biggest changes and show some new Pathfinder: Wrath of the righteous gameplay.
This Wrath of the Rigtheous gameplay is from a pre-Alpha build, which explains the lack of UI and a juddering framerate in heavier battles. It also doesn’t show off a lot of the new features we’re talking about, so you’ll just have to take my word for it. Pathfinder: Kingmaker was slightly infamous for the ropey state at release - with bugs and such - and Owlcat Games have said they are working hard not to disappoint people second time round. They also tell us about how the game will be more welcoming to newcomers, without sacrificing the complexity that fans came to love.
The biggest Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous news is that kingdom management has been swapped for army management - you put together a force to fight the demonic forces of the Worldwound. But don’t get freaked out: Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous CRPG credentials are not in question - it’s still a game about putting together a party and dishing out some real time with pause monster slaying. I’d love for them to announce a turn based mode. Maybe we’ll get lucky. We also get Mythic Paths brought over from the Pathfinder tabletop game - these are extra layers of character development that add awesome new powers. Want to be a lich with an undead army? Go right ahead. Or perhaps you’re a Loki-like Trickster, changing fate by tinkering with dice rolls.
This is just an early look at the game, and if you’d like to see more stuff like this on the channel let us know in the comments. Also have to ask whatever Wrath of the Righteous Pathfinder questions you have: we played for about an hour so can cast more light on how it all works. Thanks for watching this video and hopefully see you soon.
