Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Copy Formulas but Not Change Formatting.

Welcome to another episode of the MrExcel netcast, where we bring you the best tips and tricks for mastering Excel. In today's episode, we will be discussing how to fill cells with formulas without messing up the existing formatting. This is a common issue that many Excel users face, but fear not, as we have the perfect solution for you.

During a recent seminar in Raleigh, I encountered a situation where I needed to copy formulas without changing the formatting. My initial method was to use CONTROL+C and then paste special with ALT+E S and choose FORMULA. However, one of the attendees, Adam, shared a much easier method with me. By simply selecting the data and right-dragging, you can choose the option "FILL WITHOUT FORMATTING" when you release the mouse. This will copy the formulas while preserving the original formatting.

This tip is just one of the 617 Excel mysteries solved in my book "Power Excel With MrExcel, the 2017 Edition". Thanks to Adam, we now have 618 mysteries solved! If you want to learn more tips and tricks like this, click the "i" on the top right-hand corner to purchase the book.

So, the next time you need to copy formulas without messing up the formatting, remember to use the right-drag method or the ALT+E S F shortcut.
