Yes, it is true. Using Free Mcboot and the PS2 Slim, you can boot PSX backups. Watch the video and see how easy it is.
Pre-Reqs:
Playstation 2 console (slim or fat) v9 and higher.
A PSX game (real), and a backed up PSX game.
U-Launch Elf disc (only if you don't have Free McBoot installed).
Swap magic 3.6 or equivalent (mod-chip is ok too)

Get the latest version. Extract contents of zip file to USB thumb drive. Install by watching my other Free McBoot tutorial.
