Typhoon Kong-rey has made landfall in Taiwan, claiming at least one life and injuring dozens more. While the storm has been downgraded from a super typhoon, intense wind and rain caused a near-shutdown of the island. Schools and offices were shut, while hundreds of local and international flights and ferry services were grounded. Kong-rey is the biggest to land since 1996, with a radius of 320km -- almost big enough to engulf all of Taiwan. Conditions are expected to remain severe until early tomorrow. Victoria Jen reports.
