Auvelity (dextromethorphan + bupropion) is an NMDA antagonist, which increases glutamate levels. This is different than our other antidepressants, so if someone has failed multiple medication trials for depression, this may be a good option. We've seen patients who had very treatment resistant depression, respond well to this medication.
