Microsoft Excel Tutorial: How to Create a Picture Lookup in Excel Using OFFSET Function | MrExcel Podcast.

Welcome to another episode of the MrExcel podcast. In today's episode, we will be discussing a question sent in by Prince, who wants to do a lookup using either VBA, but instead of returning a value, he wants to return a picture. As always, if you have any questions for the podcast, feel free to shoot me an email at [email protected].

In this tutorial, we will be using the OFFSET function to create a picture lookup in Excel. First, we will insert the pictures into cells and make them fit completely inside the cell. Then, we will name the list of products on a separate sheet and create a dropdown list on the main sheet. Next, we will use the MATCH function to determine which item was chosen from the dropdown list. This information will be used in the OFFSET function to specify which picture to display.

To make the OFFSET function work, we will define a named range called MyPic, which will point to the heading of the list on the separate sheet. We will also use the OFFSET function to specify how many rows down and columns over we want to move from the starting cell. This can be a bit tricky, so make sure to pay attention to the details. Once the named range is defined, we can use it in place of the formula in the linked picture, resulting in the correct picture being displayed based on the chosen item from the dropdown list.

I hope you found this tutorial helpful and that it will save you time and effort in your future Excel projects. Don't forget to send in your questions to [email protected] for a chance to have them featured on the podcast. And be sure to tune in next time for another informative episode from MrExcel.
