When Leicester’s easy life took second place in BBC’s Sound of 2020 poll, fans were ecstatic...but not surprised. The alt-R&B collective's trajectory has been on the rise for years. With its whimsical trumpet-led hook and gauzy guitars, 2018’s “nightmares” kicked off a stellar run of EPs and singles. The following year gave us 'spaceships mixtape,' with a cover design featuring all five members in spacesuits. Tracks like “sunday” certainly captured a low-gravity vibe, foreshadowing a turn to jazz and sampling that would become more prevalent on 2020’s “junk food.” Singer Murray Matravers and his crew have always had a strong grip on their sound and aesthetics, both of which fit in nicely in our London studio. “skeletons” channels a light house music bounce (can’t wait to bop to it in a pub) and “daydreams” feels exactly like its title. The bands are back, baby!
