All bully breeds stem from one rootstock from ancient Greece called Molosser, which were muscular, big-boned, and large dogs. The Molosser was bred with other breeds such as the mastiff and the Old English bulldog in order to create dogs who could guard property, protect livestock, and help in farms. Later on, their strength was misused for bloodsports like bull-baiting, thus the name “bully” being given to describe them.
