I Saw an E8600 at 7GHz - Crazy Overclocking Results!
I recently received another lot of the very same batch of E8600 that I recently ran up to 6.93GHz in CPU-z validation for example. One of the CPUs seemed very optimal based on water tests, good overclocking and very good VID value. This particular CPU ended up being a true stellar of E8600 in terms of overclocking as I managed to run, even long lasting multi threaded workloads up to 6.85GHz. I passed WPrime 1024M twice at 6.85, but the system crashed after the test finished due to temperature.
Super PI 32M was a big surprise as well, as I had lots of issues previously with stability in that particular test with my previous CPU, but now I managed to run the test once at 6.76GHz and got a fully flat 7-minute run in that test. Just 1 millisecond away from a sub 7-minute run. Super PI 1M I could run quite easily as high as 6.91GHz and 6.93 was very close on passing as well.
CPU-z validation at 7GHz is still what I'm looking for, I got 6.984 validated and saw 700x10 a few times on the screen so I will definitely get it next time. Being able to see 7000MHz is already a huge milestone for any E8600 and later generation LGA775 CPU.
