The path to the castle now leads past the Beautiful Corner up the castle hill, accompanying the restored city wall for a stretch. In 1279, the city wall with walkway enclosed the then city with the new town. The preserved half-shell tower also served as one of 30 wall towers for defense, just like the moat, which became a green area. The half-shell tower remained open on the inner side, so that the enemy could not entrench themselves here, should they overcome the wall.
