The Global Lives Project is a video library of life experience around the world, featuring more than 500 hours of footage of the daily life of 20 people from 17 countries.
The Global Lives Project is a three-time National Endowment for the Arts award recipient, and has been exhibited and screened at dozens of venues worldwide including the Smithsonian, United Nations University and the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.

David Evan Harris is a sociologist, artist and curator. In 2004, he founded the Global Lives Project, a video library of life experience around the world produced by thousands of collaborating filmmakers, photographers and translators. The Global Lives Project has been screened and exhibited as a video installation in museums, galleries, public spaces and schools around the world, including at the Smithsonian, United Nations University, and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA).
At the Institute for the Future (IFTF), David leads research on the future of media, governance, philanthropy and social movements. In 2014, he became curator of the Future Gallery, an exhibit space in downtown Palo Alto featuring the work of artists from around the world whose work challenges viewers to think critically about the future. David joined IFTF in 2008.
At UC Berkeley, David is the Chancellor’s Public Scholar. In 2016, he will teach Social Movements and Social Media, a course offered through the Center for Social Sector Leadership at the Haas School of Business. He previously taught Scenario Planning and Futures Thinking.
Naomi Ture
Global Lives Vietnam Filmmaker, 2013
Naomi Ture is a nationally award-winning documentary filmmaker. With credits as Producer, Director, DP, Writer and Editor, Naomi has been involved in every aspect of production. Most recently as Director of Photography for Time Warner’s BATKID BEGINS (2015), Naomi filmed the touching true story of a boy battling cancer, whose wish to become Batman became a global phenomenon.
In 2013, Naomi produced & directed a Global Lives 24-hour shoot based in Vietnam, portraying Lê Huyền, a young woman who lives and works on a sand barge in the Mekong River Delta in Vietnam.

Steve Grove leads a team at Google called the News Lab, focused on empowering innovation at the intersection of media and technology.
