Corsair DDR5 Overclocking Competition - Efficient Performance at 7200MHz on LN2 in Super PI 32M
This is the summary of my scores in Super PI 32M for the Stage 2 of the Corsair Invitational DDR5 Overclocking Competition hosted on HWBOT.org and OC-Esports.io. For this stage the CPU Core and Cache frequency was limited to 6006MHz and you could go as high as you could on the memory using any available form of cooling.
The key was the to get both the CPU and the memory cold with LN2 to get the most out of your setup for this benchmark. The tricky part of the stage was the operating system of choice, as Windows 10 isn't the most suitable or easiest environment for close to 27-year-old PC performance test.
I actually got the test running absolutely fine in a retail Windows 10 Pro N x64 installation which I shrunk and modified myself. Copy Waza was very consistent and to be honest this operating system could be used absolutely fine even for the fastest world record attempts. I might share this particular installation media to my Patreon followers.
The major setback I faced during this part of the competition was the very limited frequencies I could achieve on the memory. The very same sticks could reach well above 8000MT/s both in PYPrime and Geekbench 3 2-3 weeks ago, but now I just couldn't go much higher than 7200-7300 test stable with Command Rate 1T and 7400-7500 with Command Rate of 2T. I fear either the CPU IMC has degraded or there is some issue with the motherboard. I did briefly test the sticks individually again, but I didn't see any major difference between the two sticks.
Currently I am rank #2 in the whole competition and I got the third fastest run in this stage so I still have a chance to finish the competition among top 3. Assuming that I can get a new amount of LN2 successfully, and I can get the sticks working flawlessly again at very high frequencies which are definitely needed for the stage 3 which is centered around the Aida64 memory test.
