To efficiently select subtitles in Subtitle Edit, follow these steps in just a minute. Start by opening both the subtitle file and the corresponding video file. Then, navigate to the "Edit" menu and choose the "Modify Selection" option. In this window, you can customize the selection rules based on your specific requirements.

For instance, if you want to select all the lines that contain a certain word, utilize the "Contains" rule and input the desired text. Afterward, simply click on the "Apply" button to select these specific lines. On the right side of the interface, you will find four options: creating a new selection, adding the selected lines to the current selection, subtracting from the current selection, or intersecting with the current selection.

To further fine-tune your selection, Subtitle Edit offers various rules. If you only want lines that start with a specific text, employ the "Starts With" rule. Conversely, if you prefer lines that end with a particular text, use the "Ends With" rule. Moreover, you can exclude lines that contain a certain text by applying the "Not Contains" rule. Additionally, Subtitle Edit provides options to select lines in uppercase or use regular expressions. You can even choose to select only even or odd lines.

Furthermore, you can filter subtitles based on duration. Specify whether you want lines with a shorter or longer duration than a specific value. If you prefer lines with only a single line and no line breaks, Subtitle Edit enables you to select those as well. Similarly, you can choose lines with two or more lines. Lastly, there is the option to select bookmarked lines or blank lines. Once you are satisfied with your selection, click on "Apply" and then "OK." Now, you can make changes solely to the selected lines, ensuring a more efficient subtitle editing process.
