Where to Find Game Version in Steam (2023)
In this tutorial I am going to show you how and where to find game version in Steam. I will also explain the logic behind the versioning and the methods used so as for the viewer to understand such concept.

Hey guys,
what's going on, my name is Guide4Ever and in today's video I am going to
show you how to find version of the Steam game. Note that in order to do so
you have to have the game downloaded otherwise it's not going to work.
First, click on Library in the top left tab, then right click on the game
and select Properties. Then click on Updates section on the left side
of the window. In the bottom part you can now see 2 numbers, one for App ID
and the other one for Build ID. App ID tells you the number that the game
is represented by. You can also see this number when you go to files on
your hard drive, it doesn't say CSGO for example but it says 730 instead.
Build ID is the versioning number of the game. Each time there is an update
the Build ID changes, for some games it increments by 1, which means
if it started with 10571632 then the next version is going to be 10571633,
the next one will end ...634 and so forth. The other way of versioning is by
having a randomized seed, that is basically when you have 10571632
for example, but the next number can be something like 93275799, in other
words something completely different.
Each developing team chooses different style of versioning their game
so it might not be useful sometimes especially if the version is randomized
each time they make an update.
