"Paper" is a modern GTK3 desktop theme suite. Its design is mostly flat with a subtle use of shadows and gradients for some depth.
Paper has been developed primarily with modern GTK3 (GNOME-based mostly) desktop environments in mind, legacy and GTK2 environments will not necessarily have the same experience found in screenshots, as much of the visual design relies on modern GTK+ aspects.
A few things to note:
The experience seen above requires a GTK3 desktop.
The GTK2 portion of the theme is a bit wonky (requires the pixbuf engine)
Things are subject to change as the theme is still being developed.
Desktops that make use of the GTK3 headerbars/client-side decorations will have the best experience (sorry, Unity).
