A (Mostly) Great Entry | Resident Evil Village Review
Resident Evil Village is another excellent addition to the series, for the most part.
Resident Evil Village pulls a heavy influence of the action-heavy elements of Resident Evil 4 and mixes it with the design approach of Resident Evil 7. They brought back the looping level design from RE7 and the classic titles but with some tweaks on the more action-heavy focus. Does it work in Resident Evil Village? For the most part, it does, although some areas of Resident Evil Village fall a bit short.

From the differences between Village and RE7, you can see Capcom listened to a lot of the feedback on the criticisms people had about RE7.
That said, there are some ways that Resident Evil Village addresses this feedback that worked, some where they still missed the mark, and in other areas, created issues that weren't there in RE7.
Compared to its predecessors, there are numerous shifts in focus and in tone within Resident Evil Village, sometimes for the better, and yet sometimes to its detriment. The plot is grander with higher stakes that again, are sometimes for the better, and sometimes to the detriment.
While it doesn't quite hit the highs of RE4 or some of the classic titles, I did overall find it more enjoyable than RE7, even if Village was a less cohesive title.
