ACES 2.0 vs ACES 1.2
There is an improvement with the upcoming #ACES 2.0 and the comparison shows the fundamental problems of #ACES 1.2. I'm really surprised because studios must be constantly struggling with colour problems. There are some examples of bad results in big films, but it seems that nobody was able to identify the cause and even fix it in post-production because the original colour transformation was deeply flawed.
A typical example is the blue light from the laser sword on Obi Wan Kenobi's face in the new Star Wars films.
But don't be fooled by this comparison. It seems to have solved issues like collapsing and clipping #HUE colors but if I now compare #ACES 2.0 with #AgX, fundamental problems are still visible. Especially in another video that I published on my channel.
The author of the superior #AgX puts it in a nutshell:
