How to Use the Map Function in Python
One of the most useful functions in Python is the Map function that allows you to execute a function for every item in an iterable, like a list or a dataframe column. For data engineers, this ability is extremely handy, since having the ability to do a custom function for every row in a table (for example) is something that is done all the time. Map makes it easy to use a list, two lists, a dataframe column and a list, four lists, or thousands of other combinations to get many function results. Let's go take a look at the Map function!
