Way 1: Check Bad Sectors via CHKDSK Command
If the error is related to reading data or writing data, you should check the source disk or target disk.
1. Press Windows + R key and type “CMD” in the Run box then press enter.
2. For example here we choose D drive, type this command “chkdsk D: /f” and press enter,
if there’s no problem, you‘ll see “found no problems”
3. If there is an error, then type this and press enter to repair it “chkdsk D: /r”.
Way 2: Clean Destination Disk via Clean Command
If the target disk has a corrupted file system, you can wipe it out before cloning.
Press enter after each command you input,
1. In the run box, type “diskpart”.
2. Type “list disk”.
3. Type “select disk ” to select the target disk, for example, select disk 2 here.
4. Type “clean all”
clean all command is different from clean, it will take a little bit of time to wait.
Way 3: Create a Macrium Rescue Media
Some programs may prevent you from accessing the source drive. Booting your computer from Macrium rescue media will eliminate all the other programs’ impact.
Way 4: Create an Image Backup
If Macrium Reflect failed to clone from rescue media, you may consider doing an image backup instead of cloning. You can backup pc to an external hard drive or NAS network location and then restore the image to your new disk.
