Joe Ducker: You could use the trigger to make a pressure plate to open a trap door or perhaps a trigger to make a hidden door appear in the wall.
Blair Green: One idea could be that when the character touches certain points on the ground (imagine she is going through a linear progression of the scene) it might trigger traps like shooting arrows or swinging logs to descend on her.
