USE BLOGGING TO GROW YOUTUBE CHANNEL | HOW TO USE YOUTUBE VIDEOS IN BLOG POSTS
In this video I'm going to show you how I use blogging to grow YouTube channel.
I'll show you how an experiment I ran got 928 views on one YouTube Video in under a month on an otherwise useless blog post. That's 928 views I otherwise wouldn't have had, all external traffic views.
Years ago I wrote this extremely successful blog post that solved a WordPress image upload problem with a bunch of screen shots, and step by step solutions that broke down an otherwise pretty technical answer.
The only problem was this wasn't content that attracted my ideal client - it attracted... other "me"s. Other website designers and developers who were looking to solve a problem for themselves or their customers.
I created that blog post to showcase my skills, thinking I would attract folks who would otherwise want to hire me to fix this problem for them. That couldn't have been further from the truth.
But here I was with this super optimized, well-written blog post, bringing in all the wrong traffic. I didn't want to remove it - it was bringing in 4,000 unique sessions per month. 4k!
But I needed to steer it into something that would make money for me, and it occurred to me that as great as this blog post was... it didn't have a video.
So I made a simple recap video, and embedded it on my blog post. And in under a month a video that would have gotten maybe 50 views, got 928. And it will just keep getting more and more views.

And now once I hit the 1,000 subscriber mark, and 4,000 watch hours (YouTube's minimum requirement to be eligible to run ads on videos), I'll then be able to start getting paid for these views.
And that's how I used an external traffic source (my blog post) to not only up my YouTube video views, but also turn a high performing but low converting blog post into a money maker.
