If you know jq [1], you might also like JD [2]. JD is an interactive editor, it's not a replacement of jq.
The interface is quite clean, it might need a minute to feel out how to do the add and edit, which was the exact time that took me to figure it out.
[arrow] to navigate through keys, with key completion. [Ctrl+E] to add/change value in JSON notation of course, and it even has [Ctrl+Z] for undoes.
It uses the author's GJSON path syntax [3] that I've yet to learn, so this video definitely does not demonstrate its potential, the querying part at least.
