I tried many cables and this is the one that worked. This cable works with both M1 chip and intel macs. I have been using this cable for 8 months without any issues. I hope that this video helps you connect your old cinema display to your new MacBook Pro. In this video I have the 30 inch Cinema Display. Interesting note is that these monitors were released in 2004. The display is still stunning nearly 2 decades later.
How to solve low resolution issue:
If you are not on the latest mac os version you might run into an issue where the resolution is low. All you have to do is open the display properties and select the monitor. You will see an option for scaled. Before you click scaled hold the option key on the keyboard then click scaled and you will have an option for 2560x1600.
