ファタール - Fatal 「 Oshi No Ko Season 2 」 | English Metal Cover
After YOASOBI's "Idol" absolutely POPPED OFF last year, I was curious to see what direction the Oshi No Ko production team would go with the opening for the second season. I thought for sure they'd try to keep up the bubbly-pop vibe with very dark undertones that "Idol" had, but I'm incredibly happy that they chose to go for a "darker" sounding song both lyrically and sonically. Gemn's "Fatal" was absolutely the right move (although I'm pretty sure it was written specifically for the anime lol), and as soon as I heard it, I knew that I HAD to give the song a cover sooner rather than later. As much as I love "Idol," I was pretty late to the bandwagon, and it's already been covered to absolute death and back—Kanaria's "King" type beat lmao. Both are still bangers, though. So with that in mind, I decided to make the lyrics for my English translation a bit less subtle with its imagery and a lot more about Ruby and Aqua's relationship to Ai and package the whole with the my usual heavy metal riffage.
This has got to be the quickest turnaround I've ever had for a cover. I made the instrumental in three days, recorded vocals, mixed, and mastered the song in two and did the entire video in one. 💀 It's not even like I did it all in one week, I just had to space everything out over the month. Needless to say, I am very tired and I hope you enjoy the cover the way I'm going to enjoy not having to get up at 5 am to work on the video. 💀💀💀
