It seems that Lermontov was not a very pleasant person. For nearly two centuries, people have not stopped recalling his difficult character and malicious attitude towards women.
But Lermontov faced criticism not only for his poor behavior towards women (though for that too), but for what and how he wrote. And the critics were often unexpected and very respected individuals.
One wonders, was Lermontov a delicately perceptive and sensitive person, or a malicious schemer who consistently nurtured an inclination towards evil and lured readers into his demonic traps?
