LNER 4468 Mallard - 125 mph record-breaking attempt! (Train Simulator 2020)
Hello All! You probably have heard the story of LNER Mallard achieved the world speed record for steam locomotives in 1938 ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LNER_Cl... ), but do you think Mallard could break her record if the weight and length of the train consist is changed? Let's find out the answer together with the help of the Train Simulator!
This is a short in-game footage of TS2020 showing the LNER 4468 Class A4 Mallard attempt to break the world speed record of the engine. The route is Settle to Carlisle, and the starting point is Ribblehead, heading to Carlisle. The gradient of the route is between 0% to -1.2%; the trainset is 394 long tons. When the real Mallard achieved the 125 mph speed record, she was hauling a 197 tons four-car consist. I think the consist was a bit short, so I increased the tonnage to 394 long tons, eight-car consist, six coaches, one buffet, and a dining car.
