Finetuning selectors:
- when the selctors are not reliable, too specific, too sensitive towards the application change,
- System changes - selectors - elements contains the version of the application
- dynamically changing selectors
- selectors using IDx - index value
Best Approaches to finetune:
1. - Using WildCards -
symbols that replace zero or more characters in a string (selectors)
Asterisk (*) – replaces zero or more characters
ex: aaname = sel49
aaname = sel* ---- select490000
Question mark (?) – replaces a single character
ex: aaname = 1select
aaname = ?select
2. - Using Variables
- Use variables to pass the attribute values in selector target tags
- can use the same selector to identify different attribute elements by passing variables
3. Using Index values
- Index variables are used to access UI elements based on their numerical position in the list or
to access specific UI elements in an array or structure.
