Chinese electric vehicles (EVs) have been criticized not only for their subpar quality but also for being sold at excessively low prices overseas. On July 5, the European Union began imposing anti-subsidy tariffs on these Chinese-made EVs. Recent data indicates that since the policy came into effect, the number of Chinese EVs registered in Europe started to decline in July. Analysts suggest that the EU’s tariffs reflect a larger competitive struggle between the global EV market and China’s growing industry.
