True Crime Files Podcast- Murder On The Road To Vegas- Episode 33
Today’s True Crime Files case is titled Murder On The Road To Vegas. It involved two young Israeli men who came to the USA to learn about the music business. One moved to Hollywood and immersed himself in a fast-track lifestyle. He invited his high school buddy to join him for a month. They decided to leave Los Angeles and head to the bright lights of Las Vegas. Both young men were in constant contact with their families in Israel.
Then there was complete silence and their parents never heard from them again. As the weeks turned into months their mothers panicked and hired a private detective to try to track them down. This resulted in more questions than answers as to the young men’s whereabouts. Out of desperation, the mothers flew to the USA to request that authorities assist in locating their sons. When they contacted LAPD to file a Missing Persons Report, they were asked where their sons had been living. All the mothers knew was that they had been in LA but were planning to go to Las Vegas. The mothers were instructed to contact law enforcement in Las Vegas. When they did, the police asked where their sons were staying in Las Vegas. Since the mothers didn’t have any addresses in Vegas, the authorities said there was nothing they could do.
By then the mothers were at a loss as to what to do. Frustrated by the lack of involvement by the local law enforcement, they went to the FBI office in Los Angeles. The FBI politely indicated that they didn’t handle such Missing Persons situations because that was a local police matter. The mothers were heartbroken and implored the FBI to help them find the whereabouts of their sons. Eventually one of the FBI agents gave in and told the mothers that the FBI would tentatively check out some of the information that the private investigator had uncovered.
Thus began one of the most bizarre cases that the FBI has ever investigated. I have been involved in hundreds of homicide cases with LAPD and Sheriff’s Department but nothing like this homicide investigation conducted by the FBI. This story has more twists and turns in it than any road I have ever traveled to the glitzy city of Las Vegas. Buckle your seat belt and let’s look for the bodies along the ROAD TO VEGAS.
