Although immunotherapy could be used as a tool, it will never be the sole standard therapy in the treatment of mesothelioma, says Mutti.
Immunotherapy is not showing definitive results, but researchers must be cautious, warns Mutti, as the biology is different from other lung cancers. A subset of patients with mesothelioma may benefit, but that population has not been determined yet.
