Reagan, the Movie. How Far MAGA GOP Has Abandoned his Ideals; Trump is No Ronald Reagan (American Issues Take One). The hosts for this show were Tim Apicella and Jay Fidell. The guest was Chuck Crumpton.
The discussion was: In the first five minutes of the recently released Reagan movie, you know it's going to portray the chronology of Ronald Regan's life, failures and accomplishments. Ronald Reagan had plenty of both. By the movie's end, three things scream out from what is completely void from today's MAGA Trump cult movement:
Distrust of the Russian totalitarian government, a president that understands and cherishes America's democracy, and what it is like to have a leader composed of moral character and human decency. The panel will examine the glaring differences of the Reagan years versus Trump's past administration and where Trump will take the GOP should he win the presidential election in November 2024.
The takeaway was: Today's Republicans have either forgotten the values and principals of President Reagan's Republican Party or they wish to consciencely ignore what the GOP once stood for. Today's Republicans continue to hold up Ronald Reagan as the standard bearer of the GOP. This respectful admiration is for nostalgia purposes only. Ronald Reagan, if alive today, would not remotely recognize the party he worked so hard to shape, nor would he see how it possible just how far Trump has successfully dismantled the values, policy ideals, and patriotism of the Republican Party, Reagan's Grand Old Party.
