Materials List:
Canvas: 8x10-inch stretched cotton
Acrylic Paints: Ultramarine Blue, Purple, Pink, Lamp Black, Orange, Lemon Yellow, Titanium White
Brushes & Tools: Stationary sponge, long bristle brush, filbert brush, small round brush, liner brush
Painting Steps:
Blend the Background Colors: Squeeze a few drops of Ultramarine Blue, Purple, and Pink directly onto the canvas. Use a damp sponge to blend colors in circular motions, keeping the center brighter.
Create a Spooky Sky: Deepen the sky with Ultramarine Blue and Lamp Black in the corners and lower middle. Use the sponge to form cloud shapes in the upper middle.
Paint Trees: Use a filbert brush with Lamp Black to paint a tree on the right side. Add branches with a long bristle brush. Repeat on the left side, making the tree slightly larger.
Block in Pumpkins: With a filbert brush and Orange paint, block in rough pumpkin shapes. Vary sizes and use a small round brush for smaller pumpkins. Add shadows with Orange.
Add Pumpkin Ridges & Faces: Use darker shades (brown/black) to define ridges with a liner brush. Highlight with lighter Orange for dimension. Add Lemon Yellow jack-o’-lantern faces.
Add Ghosts & Spider: Paint a flying ghost under the small tree and a standing ghost near the larger tree. Use White paint for the body and dark shades for eyes. Add a hanging spider above the pumpkins with a web structure.
Tips: Slightly dampen your sponge before blending for smoother results. Let your brush move freely for natural tree branches, and embrace the unique shapes of your pumpkins – each one adds character!
