My formula for telling a story in a single image.
Theme + Narrative + Reason
Obviously, you don't often want to tell a whole story in one image. But this works for a scene, a book, a movie, whatever.
I use three elements to tell a simple story (which is all you can expect to do in one image.)
Theme: What's the image about?
Narrative: How does that change?
Reason: Why does it change?
To remember it, I've shortened it to "This changes because."
These elements are inspired by Robert McKee's framework for a controlling idea. He writes about "value+change+cause" which means more or less the same thing.
I always appreciate feedback. Keep it nice and constructive.

🔹Tell a story in your image, and it'll be more than just pretty to look at.
🔹Your image should be about a topic (you'd be surprised how many aren't.)
🔹The image should show how something changes.
🔹You should explain why it changes.
