Thought I'd share one section of my Squirtle Course, available on Gumroad, where I go through the full modelling & texturing creation process from start to finish for this production ready asset. Check it out! I'm setting up my Mari scene, blocking out the colour and using Substance bakes for some basic texture variation. Even if the full thing isn't for you hopefully you get something out of this, and see how I approach a new asset when starting to texture it.
What is the course? It's a series of 21 videos where I go through the process of texturing and modeling this lovely turtle from start to finish. I go through my methodology and workflows with step by step narration. Along the way I’m going to talk about it all: Design, UVs, modelling, sculpting, Texturing, topology and even a few of the failures along the way.
I use Zbrush, Maya and Mari with a small section using Substance Designer. I don't teach the very basics of the software but do have 11 mini lessons throughout the course to teach techniques I use throughout :) If you want to learn the basics of the software then check out more here on my Youtube channel for free tutorials about all aspects of 3d asset creation for VFX.
