SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — State leaders are considering additional funding to help address the growing issue of school lunch debt across Utah.
In early September, Gov. Spencer Cox redirected over $1 million to the Governor's Emergency Education Relief Program. The State Board of Education is now discussing whether to support a potential bill that could provide up to $5 million more in funding, as school lunch debt has reached nearly $3 million in 2024.
Efforts to make school lunches more affordable for students are gaining momentum.
