GENERAL BRITISH (GB) Accent Tutorial - What it is and how to get one
In this tutorial I'll show you how to get a GB or General British accent.
GB, don't you mean Great British? Nope, I'm talking about General British. Confused? Let me explain.
Now, way back in 1972 the term General British English was used. I imagine that many linguists, for a long time have been searching for a replacement for RP or Received Pronunciation. The term RP for some people has negative connotations - a public school accent for the privileged few. So the term General English was thought of to talk about an accent that was spoken throughout the British Isles.
So, today I'll show you my version of what I propose the General British accent to be. I want to show you that you and your accent can be flexible.
Note: I hope the video has not too much of a 'tinny echo' I realised it was there when I uploaded it and I can't get rid of it. Skip any parts if it gets annoying anyway.
