In this video, I show you how to install the Wine software compatibly layer onto Linux. This is capable of running some (but not all) Windows based applications.
The steps I show are applicable to anyone running Linux Mint 21x, Ubuntu 22.04, or another Debian/Ubuntu based distro.
Wine HQ official website:
Here are some programs I know will work with Wine:
SumatraPDF
WinDirStat
NotePad++
Programs that I know don't work with Wine:
7-zip (does support Linux, not included in every distro, but it comes with Ubuntu by default)
Greenshot (does not work with Wine under virtualized environments, e.g running Linux in a virtual machine.)
Balabolka (does install, fails to find any installed TTS voices, so it does not work under Wine.)
E-speak (Windows version does not work under Wine, but a native Linux version of E-speak is available.)
MASH (Microsoft agent scripting helper,
does not work under Wine, as it cannot find .acs character files, which are required to run MASH characters. This program is designed to run on legacy Windows systems, such as Windows XP, 2000, ME, etc.)
Other than the listed programs above, I do not know of any other programs that do or don't work with Wine, as I have only tested the ones listed above. Do let me know if this tutorial was helpful by giving this video a thumbs up
