How To Calculate An Average In Excel
In this excel tutorial for beginners I’ll explain two different ways on how you can calculate the average in excel. Using this method, you’ll be able to calculate the average of a group of numbers. It doesn’t matter how long your data set is, you’ll always be able to calculate average in excel dynamically. I said dynamically because, each time you change the data the result will change accordingly.
I’ll be using the average formula in this regard.
Select the cell where you need the average value. Now write = followed by average. Now within parenthesis select or write the range from which you need to find average in excel. Press enter and done. Its really easy. Now if you change any source value, your result will change accordingly.
Now I have a bonus trick for you. You can also calculate average in excel without using any formula. There is a built-in feature in excel. Select the cells where you have your source data. These will be the data from where you need to find average. Now at the status bar (at the bottom of your worksheet) you’ll see the average value. If you click there the result will be copied automatically and you can paste it anywhere.
Suppose you don’t find average in the status bar. You can easily enable it. Right click on the status bar and find and click on the word average. From now on excel will display average of any value you select. Now need to use any formula for this.
