Farmers in the past used to rely on their bullocks for ploughing paddy fields. Oxen are also used for Bullock carts for transports of goods & for transportation of people from one place to other. Before the advent of machinery traditional ploughing of farms was done using iron ploughs and ox .A plough may be made of wood, iron, or steel frame with an attached blade.It used to be one of the major professions of farmers in almost all villages. But the advent of modern ploughing machines such as tractor and other machinery for farming has forced the traditional ploughing method into dark.Now mostly farmers use their cows / bulls only for levelling the fields.Due to advances in machinery plouging with animals such as Bulls or horse has taken completely backstep. Now you can rarely see a farmer ploughing the paddy field with Bulls in Telangana , India.
